The panel will deep dive into the policy landscape of the online ecosystem around content regulation in Asia. Specifically, panelists will discuss decentralized content moderation by Wikipedia communities as a robust alternative to top-down governance models which are vulnerable to disinformation and censorship. Furthermore, the panel will facilitate a conversation about fostering collaboration with digital rights organizations to protect Wikipedia’s model and its contributors given the heightened surveillance in the region and the rise of regulations that would require platforms to remove content.
